The Top 3 New Jersey-Born Scorers in NHL History

New Jersey-based chef Andrew Mazza has more than five years of experience creating menus, running kitchens, and cooking meals. He is the former sous chef at Eat Clean Bro and is presently working on his new company, Stay Baked, LLC, which infused CBD into its products. Outside of his professional pursuits, Andrew Mazza of New Jersey enjoys playing hockey and was a member of his high school's varsity team.

Nearly two dozen hockey players from New Jersey have played at least one game in the National Hockey League (NHL). Below are the three most accomplished players from the state:

1. Bobby Ryan - A native of Cherry Hill, Ryan is a 32-year-old forward in his seventh season with the Anaheim Ducks. He was selected second overall by the Ducks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and scored at least 30 goals in four consecutive years with the team from 2008-09 to 2011-12. He has 551 career points through 821 regular-season games.

2. James van Riemsdyk - Selected second overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, van Riemsdyk has 231 goals and 217 assists for 448 points in 689 regular-season games. He scored a career-high 36 goals with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017-18.

3. Johnny Gaudreau - Although he is third among players born in New Jersey with 402 points, Gaudreau leads those players in points per game (0.976) as he is only in his seventh season in the league. The Calgary Flames forward registered a career-best 99 points in 2018-9.

While with Seoul Fusion, he used his classical training in Korean cuisine to devise a menu for the company’s food truck. The menu focused on items combining traditional Mexican with Asian flavors by using ingredients common to both types of cuisine. He also helped the business cater private parties.

Beyond his work in the food service industry, Mr. Mazza maintains an active interest in sports, especially hockey. While in high school, he played hockey for his school’s team the “Lancers,” helping it achieve a number of notable wins. In addition to sports, his interests include motorcycles and tattoos.

Before establishing himself as a chef, he earned his associate of arts in culinary arts from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
